The Rusty Roo artist retreat was established as an extension to the Lees Visual Art Supply shop which Sharon managed for over a decade, in the Brisbane Institute of art. The Rusty Roo allowed artists the opportunity to work without distraction, in an inspirational setting, with the benefit of being well fed, while also being able to stay in comfortable accommodation. The fully equipped studio with an etching press, easels and plenty of table space was used for a variety of mediums and disciplines. Ikebana in the landscape, sculpture, painting, print-making, mosaics and mark making were all on offer. The workshops provided artists with the opportunity to focus on their art, share ideas or simply relax and enjoy the beautiful views in the company of other people who shared a passion to be creative.
Walking through the peaceful Esk shire bushland or sitting out under the magnificent star studded sky by a warm fire of an evening, are moments we all cherished.
It was and is one of those rare finds, that you feel privileged to have discovered.
Workshops have been suspended until further notice.
